SAMPLE SCENES FOR ACT 1

'What was original about the Beatles is that they synthesised and transmuted more or less everything. They did this in a way that reflected their time and they reflected their time in a way that spoke to a great part of humanity, and they did all of this really, really well.'

Bill Martin - Music Historian.

This new revised production will embrace this special relationship the Beatles had with their ever changing culture and the effect the culture had in changing the Beatles and their music.

Through monologues and stories from the era set against the back drop of changing sounds, venues, and locations, we witness the growth of the Beatles as writers and musicians alongside the conflicts and changes of the slowly expanding world around them. We see first hand how these conflicts forced the band to grow lyrically and musically to contend with this ever changing landscape and through their music how it then, in turn, influences and accelerates this change.

The most prominent period when this happened was in the early to mid 1960s when it seems that almost everyone, irrespective of age, class or cultural background, listened to the Beatles.

She Loves You was created by John Brosnan and Carmine Grippo. It premiered in Bridgeport Connecticut in 2008 to critical and public acclaim. The show had three successful runs in Bridgeport as well as six month extended runs in Philadelphia and St Louis concurrently.

It was first devised in 2007 as a 50min headline show for Crystal Cruises before being developed into a full 2 hour theatre show. She Loves You was the only Beatles show to be granted the Ed Sullivan rights, and the first Beatles show to incorporate 60s TV commercials and news reel footage.

The show used multimedia and the Beatles catalogue to give the audiences a journey into this fascinating decade, highlighting how the decade impacted the Beatles and how the Beatles, in turn, impacted the decade.

VIDEO TEASER FOR REVISED SHOW

“Expect a lot from this show. Expect to be blown away by 1960s history. The images are as good as the music and the music is great. Expect to enjoy a light show. Joe Allegro/Design International did a fine job on the lighting, and John Brosnan’s media design is superb. Joe Boerst is the sound designer and the sound makes the evening a blast. ”
